Joe Collentine
While I was raised in Iowa, I have spent the majority of my adulthood living in Arizona. My whole life has revolved around language and culture, and I enjoy immensely the human contact that this work involves, especially since I am able to interact with people from all over the world. Throughout this time, I’ve been involved in computer programming and web development, and I am able to merge this passion with both my teaching and my research. For my professional career I have been a linguist, teaching and researching how people learn Spanish and Portuguese. I have combined my language interests to develop software that uses cutting edge technologies that enhance student learning with multimedia and interactive learning experiences. I also have worked in the area of ‘linguistic data mining’. (Technically, I research corpus linguistics and natural language processing.)
I have traveled all over the world, including: Brazil, Puerto Rico, Denmark, Hawaii, Mexico, and Panama.
I have spent an extensive amount of time in Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Mexico.
